Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Overview
GooderTherapy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at goodertherapy.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built GooderTherapy with privacy in mind — we collect only what we need and never sell your data.
Information We Collect
Review submissions
When you submit a review, we collect your email address and the text of your review. We store your address only while your review is in progress — it is how we send your verification link, any questions from a moderator, and the private link you use to edit or delete what you wrote. When your review is published we delete the stored address. What remains is a one-way cryptographic hash (HMAC-SHA256) that cannot be reversed to recover your address; it is used only to prevent the same person submitting two reviews of one therapist.
Your review text is processed by AI to generate an anonymized summary, and that summary is what appears publicly. Your original words are retained internally so that moderators can review a report or a dispute about the review.
Therapist registrations
If you register a therapist profile, we collect your name, email address, city, state, and any additional profile information you provide (credentials, bio, specialties, phone, website). Your email is used to verify your identity and send you notifications about your listing. It is never displayed publicly.
Usage data
We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymized page view data, and we log certain in-product events (such as profile views and search queries) to our own database. These events are not linked to individual users — they are aggregate counts used to understand how the site is being used.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking cookies. Our site may store a small session token in your browser to keep you logged in to an admin session. Analytics tools may set minimal functional cookies.
We also store a randomly generated identifier in your browser's local storage. It lets us tell whether a therapist profile was viewed by several different people or by the same person more than once, so the visitor counts we show therapists are accurate. This identifier is a random value that contains no personal information, is never shared with third parties, and is not used to build a profile of you or to track you across other websites. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
How We Use Your Information
- To verify the authenticity of reviews and prevent spam or duplicate submissions
- To send transactional emails (email verification, review notifications)
- To display therapist profile information on the Site
- To moderate and quality-check review content before publication
- To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the Site
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Site.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. We use the following service providers to operate the Site, each of whom processes data only as necessary to provide their service:
- Vercel — hosting and infrastructure
- Neon — database storage
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Anthropic — AI processing of review text for anonymization
Data Retention
Review content and associated hashed email data are retained indefinitely to maintain the integrity of the review record. Therapist profile data is retained for as long as the listing is active. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at the address below.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing us. Because reviewer emails are stored only as one-way hashes, we cannot look up your submission by email — please include identifying details about your review (approximate date, therapist name) in your request.
Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
