Profile & Review Policy

How Your Profile Got Here

GooderTherapy sources therapist information from publicly available records including state licensing databases and professional directories. If you have a profile on GooderTherapy, your information was already publicly available somewhere else. We organized it in one place to help people find mental health care more easily.

We don't contact therapists before creating profiles, and we don't require therapists to sign up or pay for anything. Your profile exists to help potential clients find you based on real feedback from the people you've already helped.

Claiming Your Profile

Claiming your profile is free and gives you direct control over how you appear on GooderTherapy.

What you can do after claiming:

  • Write your own bio in your own words
  • Update your specialties, modalities, and insurance information
  • Add or update your photo
  • Set your accepting new patients status
  • Access your analytics dashboard to see how many people are viewing your profile and finding you in searches

Why information on your unclaimed profile might be inaccurate:

Your profile was built from publicly available data which can go out of date. If your phone number, address, or specialties are wrong, claiming your profile is the fastest way to correct them. We aren't able to manually update individual profile details on unclaimed profiles.

Reviews

GooderTherapy exists to give therapy clients a place to share honest, anonymous feedback about their experience. Reviews are the heart of what we do.

How reviews work:

  • Reviews are submitted by clients and verified before publishing
  • Every review is processed by AI to remove identifying details so clients can be honest without fear of being recognized
  • Not even we can trace a review back to who wrote it
  • Reviews with low ratings go through additional moderation before publishing including a 48 hour cooling off period and a requirement for specific, substantive feedback

What we look for in moderation:

We publish reviews that contain genuine, specific feedback about a therapist's professional conduct and approach. We do not publish reviews that are purely emotional venting with no substantive content, reviews that appear to be written in crisis, or reviews that contain serious unverified allegations without specific detail.

If you think a review is inaccurate or unfair:

Claim your profile and use the flag review feature. We'll take a real look at every flagged review against our moderation criteria. We don't remove reviews simply because a therapist disagrees with them, but we do remove reviews that don't meet our standards.

Removal Requests

We respect that not every therapist wants to participate in a review platform. That is a completely valid professional choice and we honor removal requests.

To request removal:

Use the contact form on our website. We'll respond within 48 business hours.

What happens when you request removal:

  • Your profile and all associated information will be removed from GooderTherapy
  • Your information will be added to our opt-out list so it won't be re-imported in future updates
  • You'll receive a confirmation when the removal is complete

If your profile has verified reviews:

We are unable to remove verified client reviews as they represent real experiences submitted in good faith by real clients. If your profile has verified reviews and you request removal, we will strip everything from your profile except your name. Your photo, contact information, bio, specialties, and all other details will be removed. Only your name and the verified reviews will remain, giving future clients access to honest feedback while respecting your wish not to have an active presence on the platform. If you believe a specific review violates our moderation standards, please flag it for review before submitting a removal request.

If your information is inaccurate and you want it corrected rather than removed:

The fastest path is to claim your profile and update it yourself. We aren't able to manually correct information on unclaimed profiles.

We built GooderTherapy because finding a good therapist is genuinely hard. We believe honest client feedback makes that process better for everyone, including the therapists who are doing great work and deserve to be found.
